180 Ranch is a Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) program member that provides English and Western horseback riding lessons from CHA certified instructors in Northwest Arkansas. Our mission is to impact lives through the joy of horseback riding while ensuring the safety and well-being of both riders and horses. Explore your interest in horses with this four-week course designed for groups of beginners. Learn grooming, tacking, basic horse handling and more. Offered on-demand depending on interest.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much do lessons cost?
Private Lessons
The cost of one lesson is $60.00 for one hour of private instruction. Students pay $240 on the first of each month for four private lessons. Some months will include a fifth lesson depending on the calendar year. This will be a bonus lesson offered at no extra charge. Lessons will not be scheduled without payment in advance.
Group Lessons
The cost of one group lesson is $45.00 for one hour of instruction in a group of two or more riders. Students pay $180 on the first of each month for four group lessons. Some months will include a fifth lesson depending on the calendar year. This will be a bonus lesson offered at no extra charge. Lessons will not be scheduled without payment in advance.
Travel Fee
Our instructors are available to travel to your facility to teach for an additional fee. Cost depends on distance. Email info@180ranchnwa.com for more information.
Late Payments
Lessons will not be or provided without payment. If payment is not received at the beginning of each lesson, instructor will cancel the lesson.
What should I wear?
Students are required to wear appropriate riding attire, including:
- ASTM/SEI certified riding helmets under 5 years old from manufacture date (required for all riders, no exceptions)
- Long pants (preferably jeans or riding breeches)
- Closed-toe boots with at least a 1-inch heel to keep feet from sliding through the stirrups
Prohibited while riding:
- Long necklaces and/or dangling earrings
- Chewing gum
- Tennis shoes
What happens if I need to cancel my lesson?
Life happens. We get it. We’ve put together the cancellation policy below to help students respect our time as much as we respect yours.
Cancellation Policy:
STUDENT must provide a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
If STUDENT cancels within the bounds of this policy, STUDENT will receive a makeup lesson.
If STUDENT cancels without 48 hours’ notice, STUDENT will not receive a makeup lesson.
Exceptions to this policy: sudden illness, emergency, extreme weather conditions
If INSTRUCTOR cancels due to illness, inclement weather, or other health or safety concerns, STUDENT will receive a makeup lesson or a refund.
If STUDENT consistently misses lessons without notice, 180 Ranch reserves the right to remove STUDENT from the lesson schedule.
STUDENT may discontinue lessons at any time, in which case STUDENT forfeits any remaining lessons without refund.
Can I still ride if the weather is not perfect?
Our riding facilities are all outdoors. In case of poor weather, lessons may be canceled or rescheduled. Please read our policy below:
Inclement Weather Policy:
Lessons may be canceled due to:
- High winds (gusts above 25 mph)
- Rain
- Thunderstorms
- Cold temperatures (below 32° F)
- Extreme heat (above 100° F)
- Other extreme weather events that pose a safety concern
If a lesson is canceled due to weather and student prepaid for the lesson, student will receive a credit towards the next month’s payment.
In the event of inclement weather, student may be given the option to substitute a mounted riding lesson affected by inclement weather with an unmounted horsemanship lesson conducted safely indoors. Instructors will communicate inclement weather plans with clients as quickly as possible.
Can I bring my own horse for lessons?
Yes, we do allow haul-ins for lessons. You MUST have a current coggins to bring your horse to our property, and horses must be taken home after your lesson.
Would your instructors be willing to teach me on my own property?
Yes, our instructors are willing to travel a reasonable distance for an additional fee.
Do you offer boarding?
No, we do not offer horse boarding.
Do you offer therapeutic horseback riding?
No, 180 Ranch is not a therapeutic riding facility.
Do you offer therapeutic riding?
No, we are not set up to be a therapeutic riding facility.
Do you offer trail rides?
No, we do not offer trail rides.
Additional safety guides
- No long necklaces, dangling earrings, and/or wallet chains may be worn while riding.
- Removal of any additional body piercings below the neck is highly recommended.
- No chewing gum
- Minimum age of students: 6 years old
- Riding while pregnant is strictly prohibited.
- Riding double (more than one person per horse) is strictly prohibited.
- Rider weight limit: 250 pounds
- The student agrees to follow all safety instructions provided by the instructor.
- No dogs allowed on premises.
