March 18 – 22, 2024 | ages 13 – 18

Join us at the 180 Ranch March 18 – 22, 2024 for Boot Camp! In this 5-day horsemanship day camp, you’ll learn the basics of grooming, tacking up, riding and more to earn a Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) certificate of completion. Instructors are certified through the CHA and are dedicated to sharing the joy of horseback riding while ensuring the safety and well-being of both riders and horses.

Who should come to Boot Camp?

Boot Camp is designed for beginner to intermediate riders ages 13 to 18. If you’re a teen in Northwest Arkansas interested in working with horses, Boot Camp will help get you started.

When and where is Boot Camp?

Boot camp is March 18 – 22, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day at 180 Ranch.

What will participants learn?

During the first four days of Boot Camp, students will receive instruction on the ground and in the saddle. They will have time to study their CHA manuals to prepare for a written test as well as a riding test on Friday to determine level of achievement.

Students will learn concepts from the Certified Horsemanship Association manual including:

  • Approaching and haltering a horse
  • Grooming
  • Saddling and bridling
  • Sitting and posting the trot
  • How to be centered and balanced in the saddle
  • and more!
How much does it cost?

The cost to participate in Boot Camp is:

  • Current lesson students and military/first responder families: $360 (email info@180ranchnwa.com for the discount code to use at checkout.)
  • General public: $450

Participants receive a Certified Horsemanship Association composite manual, a total of 15 hours of horsemanship education, and a CHA riding certificate of completion. A light lunch will be provided.

What is the CHA certificate of completion?

The CHA certificate of completion is a tangible object that validates what participants have learned and accomplished. CHA certificates can only be awarded by CHA certified riding instructors. There are four certificate levels possible. Participants in Boot Camp may only earn up to level 3. Certificates are awarded based on results from both a written test and a riding test on the last day of camp.
