Joy Riders Program

What is it?

The Joy Riders program was created in response to student requests for extra barn and horse time outside of regularly scheduled lessons. Students who qualify for Joy Riders may earn extra horseback riding time in exchange for doing barn chores.

  • Joy Riders may complete three (3) hours of barn chores to earn one (1) hour of horseback riding time supervised by a CHA certified instructor.
  • Joy Riders must be able to tack their own horse.
  •  Joy Riders will ride a horse selected by their instructor and  are not guaranteed to ride the horse that they want.
  • To maintain a realistic workload for the 180 Ranch horses, Joy Riders are limited to 3 hours of earned riding time per month.

Who qualifies?

  • Current students age 12 and up who attend lessons weekly and have a good attendance record
  • Students who have earned at least a level 2 CHA certificate of achievement

When is it?

Joy Riders time will be scheduled with the barn owner on a case-by-case basis. Depending on demand, Joy Riders time cannot be guaranteed every week.
